Gebruder Knake piano

Hello, I have inherited a piano which I plan to use for my children - it has Gebruder Knake ag Munster on the front and also somthing about 1867 exposition of Paris - i am just interested in the history and when it was made -anybody know please?

Hi again

it has 3 circles on the front with pictures of ?napoleon ? and some writing around them including something about the paris exposotion - it also has the number 1677 stamped inside - the main unusual thing about it is that it has only one foot pedal !

anything else you can tell me form this info

The Knake brothers were established in 1808, and very little is published about their early times. No dates of serial numbers are available. I have tried to decipher transfers on their other pianos, does yours say whether they received a medal in 1867? Certainly, your piano was made after that exhibition, and if it doesn't mention their appearance at the Melbourne exhibition of 1880, it may be before that. See
