Marshall and Sons, how old is my piano?
Hi, I've got a Marshall and Sons piano and no idea as to which specific year it may have been made in. It's serial number is 12567 and after research (on the Internet) I have concluded its pre-1925. Can someone help me work out which year it's from? Thanks

I have no dates of numbers for Marshall & Sons, and it is not likely that Marshall & Rose numbers can be applied. I thought Marshall & Sons became Marshall & Rose in 1911. It may be made by Welmar, which puts it before 1925 as you say.

If you could post some photos here to show us what the whole piano looks like, I may be able to tell you more. There may also be clues for you at

I suppose it is something between 1911 and 1925.

I thought that would mean it was Marshall & Rose? The name change suggests that your piano is pre-1911. Without photos, I am working in the dark.

I would still be interested to know the complete, exact wording and spelling of the name on the piano.

As far as I was aware, Marshall was only in Leicester for a brief period around 1894, but looking at my files, I see that they were there until at least 1928.
