Removing decal

Hello,

I'd like to know how to remove a Yamaha decal from the side of a black polyester finish C7 without damaging the finish. I bought the decal from Yamaha and put it on the the treble side of the case to jazz up the rather bland appearance of the case (It consists of the name and logo). It looks great but I probably ought to remove it before selling the piano. I read that white spirit would do the job but I'd rather leave it alone than risk damaging the finish if there's any doubt. Advice would be appreciated.

Is it a self - adhesive decal with gold / metal lettering surface (shiny)?
Or a water-based decal / flat surface ? (like a fallboard decal).

If the adhesive type, try "easing" the glue with a warm hair dryer, and peel it off with your fingers.
Perhaps try out then hair dryer on the inside top area of a leg first.

White spirit should be OK to use, finished with T-Cut to bring back the shine.

If water-based, just try some warm soapy water first.

Never removed a metal decal myself, so best to practise elsewhere first.

A hairdryer on a gentle heat and a soft plastic/wood scraper should do it. This will get the decal off. Then, use IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) cleaner to get rid of any residue. Might need a quick polish afterwards, but it won't leave any traces.
