Semi Weighted or Hammer Action Digital Piano

Post by nesbigr0 »

I am looking at digital pianos for my son who is at grade 3 level. An acoustic is out of the question due to size cost and maintenance. Does anyone know the difference between semi weighted and Hammer action and what is best?[/b]

Hammer action is a semi passable copy of the weight and mechanical sensation of playing a piano keyboard.

"Semi Weighted" is crap.

Hope this helps

semi-weighted keyboards

OK, so they are entry level instruments. What kind of piano can you get for ?450? At least they have an even touch and evey note works and it is a lot more usable than the average ill-advised piano buy...(which accounts for about 90% of private buys I would say after 15 years in the trade moving pianos..)
sorry to be so jaded and worldly wise...
THERE ARE LOTS AND LOTS OF RUBBISH PIANOS OUT THERE WHICH ARE WORTHLESS!!
GET ADVICE!! But you are really very unlikely to get a better deal than your local reputable dealer who knows a good piano from a non-starter.
OK so I've had my rant, I'll calm down from now on.
