They all do that, Sir!!phil1 wrote:I have just purchased this 1990 piano and am very pleased with it.I t was bought from a shop However I am intrigued as to why the name "Knight" appears to have been removed from the piano keyboard leaving the shape of the name behind. The word "London" is in perfect condition at the right hand side of the keyboard.
The serifs on the gold metal foil Knight logo (Times New Roman I believe!) were sharp little things which were snagged by Mrs.Mop's yellow duster every time she dusted it.
At first, little bits of lint from the duster hung on to the edges of the logo, then one by one, the serifs bent and snapped or entire letters flaked off.
Most Knight logos of a certain vintage are like yours, although some have been replaced by gold vinyl lettering or if you're lucky, a metal Knight nameplate from a 1970s piano. Strangely, the 'London' badge has larger serifs on the letters which are not as sharp, so they tend to survive.
