Planning on a new Kawai K-15e - some advice please
Post by British Blue Cat »
Hi,
I am planning on buying a new Kawai K-15e within the next two months. Any opinions on this model compared to the slightly less expense Yamaha B1? I have heard/read that Kawai here in the UK inspect and tune up every piano before it is shipped out to any of their of their dealers, does anyone here know if this is true or not?
For what I will be using it for and based on the quality/tone/touch of the K-15e , I do not think I could find a new piano like this one (for this price/quality). I do not want a K-2 or K-3, btw as I am only interested in this piano or the Yamaha B1.
Thanks

Yes, the Kawais are serviced in the UK before dispatch to their dealers with the result that we don't have to spend ages setting them up properly.
They are super pianos and knock spots off their rivals in my opinion.

Very impressed with Kawai.
When I worked for a local music shop a few years ago - who stock Kawai and others, the owner arranged for all of us to visit Kawai in Milton Keynes for 2 days/ hotel paid for/ sushi lunch etc. Day 1 was grands, day 2 was uprights. We were shown around the warehouse - all pianos stored in humidity chambers in their crates. They have about 4 tuning booths, each one has qualified piano tuners tuning full time. The pianos are then moved to another room for set up, full regulation/ voicing/ final checks before dispatch. We were also shown some their techniques by the leading technician for both uprights and grand pianos - from scratch. Very memorable occasion and well looked after by Kawai.
I now own a K5 (2013) for teaching and playing on, best investment I made.

Thank you for your help gentlemen!
I am seriously considering moving up to a Kawai E-2. I really like the black satin finish. I know the action for the E-2 is the better Millennium, but I wonder what if the bass strings are slightly longer. The E-2 is the institutional version of the K-200. I like polished, but I really like black satin as long as it is made of the same quality material as the K-200.
Thanks for the help all.

I ended up getting a Kawai CS10, the best choice for my family.
