Mallinson pianos

Has anyone ever heard of Mallinson pianos please. Possibly manufactured in the north of England, probably in the 19th century

Not heard of that name.... and not listed in the atlas book I have.
Could be a 'stencil' piano (google that for an explanation) .... a made up name.... easy to spot.

If you could send some photos of the piano, including a close-up of the name, it might help.

As I said when you emailed me, the only reference I can find so far is to a patent...

1882 Mallinson patented a metal piano action.

I am going through my paper lists in the hope that there is something there that wasn't typed up on computer, but perhaps someone else on the forum will happen to know of Mallinson.

Dee also tells me...

"I have got a little further -through some details on a U S patent by Joseph Mallinson. It appears that James Mallinson and his two sons Joseph and Thomas were piano manufacturers. James is listed as residing or conducting business from 63 Commericial street, Brighouse, but their partnership went bankrupt in 1870. Joseph went on to register the patent you referred me to and is referred to as piano manufacturer/ professor of music which is rather intriguing.
