Nope, my guess is it's an alias - as you say. German-sounding names are popular, and some were actually german pianos, with made-up names for use by particular retailers. Most baby grands of the 1900s are so similar, it is difficult to learn much by looking at photos. If the action (the working parts of the notes) has the action makers' name and number, I may be able to date that.
