Brinsmead patented wrest pins

Post by Brian Lawson, RPT »

Hi, yesterday I "experienced" the joys of the Brinsmead patented wrestpins. As Barrie says on the page
http://www.uk-piano.org/history/brinsmead.html
there were improvements in the design, I think this was one of the latter ones and fortunately the tuning lever was still there.

The serial number dates it to late 1870's, still an overdamper.

Suprisingly the pins were very soft to turn yet stable, the piano was just slightly flat of A440 and although no recent record it must have been tuned in the last few years.

Thanks for the photos, I have only seen grands, but I think they are wonderful, and I can't understand why so many tuners dislike them They are, as you say, so easy to turn, yet so stable in the tuning.
