Welmar history baby grand

Hi there, my husband just purchased me a Welmar baby grand serial number is 57524 it has 68 or it could be 89 upside down engraved on it.
Would anyone know the history ?????
Please help i have no idea about it and i am just learning to play

By 1946, the first 2 digits of Welmar numbers represent the year, so #57524 would be 1957. See

Bill would you happen to know what the 68 would be. It is engraved on the sheet holder

Pianos often have lots of numbers inside, and although they would have meant something to the makers, key makers, action makers etc., no information survives to interpret them. Often the last 3 digits are imprinted on the removable parts, but this is not 3 digits, and not the last digits of the main number either, unless there is another large number ending in 68 or 89.
