Estonia, Petrof and Bohemia Grands.

Post by Astrid »

:o Hi every one. I am in the process of shopping around for a Grand Piano 6 to 7 feet long. I live in Malta and variety is lacking here. Does anyone own a European Grand Piano like Estonia, Petrof or Bohemia? If so could I have some feedback please since they are not available in Malta. Well, Petrof is but they have no Grands on show.

Also, according to hearsay, which can be a little off sometimes, Asian Pianos are supposed to be brighter and may sound 'sterile' (whatever that means), whereas the Euro ones are more mellow and harmonious. Any comments about this?
Thank God for pIaNoS!

your choice

I find Estonia is the best choice. That's up to particular model ofcourse.
They're underestimated and far better than Chinese pianos (not worth looking at). Probably Kawai ( Japanese ) would suit you as well. Bohemia's and Petrof's are made in Czech Republic with German cooperation I think, but that doesn't mean they're good enough.
Sterile means "like a glass", "too bright", "flat" and without "soul".
That's what I know.
Good luck :-)
