Albert Wagstaff Manchester
Just Received an Upright Piano as a gift. It's an Albert Wagstaff Manchester- The code is carved on the wood and it's 124424. I don't have any other info about it. Can anyone tell me anything about it's age and value? Thanks!

It's unlikely that Wagstaff made his own pianos, he was a retailer, so without knowing who actually made it, the number is not much help. Nobody can guess the value or condition of a piano without inspecting it and tuning it.

It doesn't tell me anything, but David has a website, although it was not working when I tried it.

Many piano tuners or restorers often stick their business card or logo inside or around a piano (or on the key rail behind the black notes).... I do that!.... its just an advert.
I know a tuner who STAPLES their card to the inside left wall of the cabinet in two places! - even new pianos, and then after reminding the customer if they lose their business card (after being handed another one), just to look inside the top lid and there they are !
It just informs the present customer who tuned/ restored / serviced it last.... and acts as an advert for the next buyer (if the piano is sold on).... similar to a service record for a car - it just gives a ' rubber stamp' who serviced it recently.... has nothing to do with the history or whereabouts of the piano. In some cases, even if I stick a business card inside.... the customer forgets and rings up a complete stranger to come & tune their piano!!
I reckon if you ring this telephone number in Lytham (St Annes?) .... the tuner may be able to give you some information. Would the piano have been in Lancashire.... who knows.
Some photos of the piano downloaded here may give some clues about the general design.
