Best digital pianos?

Post by bartgovaert »

Folks,

We need to get a new digital piano at work.

The good thing is that we'd like to pay to get a very good instrument.

The bad thing is that I need to handle this and I do not really know about digitals.

So, collective wisdom, what would be the best models you can get if you want to have the best?

Thanks,

Bart

What's your approximate budget please?
That's always a good place to start :)

Lets say that it can cost a few grand, I am sure I would get away with 5K, probably a bit more. (One of our other offices has an accoustic Yamaha grand)

Oooh how exciting.
I'm going to bow out of offering any advice as I don't have any experience at that price level for digitals but I'll be keeping an eye on this topic to see what you end up with. Hopefully someone will be along soon with some good advice

Hi

I did a lot of research for a Digital Piano a few months ago BUT, certainly not at the high end level, unfortunately! Neither am I claiming to be an expert.

However, it seems Yamaha are well reputed; Kawai too. I favoured the Roland when I was choosing mine and, apparently, they are very well reputed too.

I bought the Roland HP 302, after trying out other similar level DP's, so you can appreciate my budget was much more restrictive than yours is!!! ;)

However, I'm posting mainly to suggest you include checking out the Roland DPs in your research as they are really something, in my opinion, for what it's worth.

I'm looking forward to hearing of your progress and your final choice ...

Good luck

You could look into Yamaha's Avantgrand range. I haven't any personal experience with them but they do sport a lot of Yamaha's latest sound and keyboard technology.

Are you looking for something that looks like a grand piano or is it just quality technology and not so much the 'prettiness' of the instrument?

The looks are not that important, it needs to be a good piano, I think I will focus on the Yamaha's. Thanks for all the tips so far.

hey bart, if you don't know more how to handle it so what? just use user manual and i hope with that you can understand easily. But you didn't mention exactly which piano model are you using. May be i know how to operate that. So it would really great it you mention in your next post which model are you using. And if i know how to operate it so it would be a good chance for me to share my words with you....
