Country Music song titles
Post by Spiritinthersky »
Bit of fun here:
Country songs have some great song titles!
My song is - Jerry Reed - She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft).

The whole genre of country and western is a major source of amusement to my English pair of ears, but none moreso than the bloke who has the unfortunate name of Hank Wangford.
The world's unluckiest piano learner, quite possibly.

I like 'How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away?' and 'You're The Reason Our Baby's So Ugly'...
I play for my own amazement...
Re: Country Music song titles
That would be a better title for a punk noise metal destruction violence total annihilation song rather than the 'homely idealistic god bless the USA' one. I couldn't imagine Glenn Campbell covering that!Gill the Piano wrote: 'You're The Reason Our Baby's So Ugly'...
Do you remember 'Lightweight Louie Danvers' on the Two Ronnies?

This one's so bad, it's bloody brilliant. If you thought 'No Charge' took the wee....

Good grief...worse than some of the Victorian ones (cf. 'If Thou Wert Blind (I Would Put Out My Eyes')!
I play for my own amazement...

Now you're talking 'The Musitians Of Grope Lane' (there actually is a street called that, in Shrewsbury).
Which is diddlysquat to do with country and western music. The Streak by Ray Stevens is classed as C&W and is rather a good song, as is 'Cover of the Rolling Stone' by Dr.Hook and the Medicine Show. I've seen video footage of Dr.Hook performing stark naked at a peace concert in the early 70s.
Then they went all corporate and poppy, and even ditched the hidden messages. When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman, It's Hard to cite their British No1 hit from the 70s.
