There were a number of firms using the name Steinberg, is there any other information on the piano?
If your images fail to load, it is probably because they are too big. If you load them into the Paint program you can reduce them to 25% and that should fix it.
My estimate of the piano would be 1923.

Interesting, thank you :) 1923 was interesting to know. No, the only info we found, searching with a flashlight, is that serail nr I wrote, and also
the logo "Steinberg Sto" ; a small scale logo when we flip the lid, imprinted on the inside of the lid that covers the keys.
We have seen that on later made ”Steinberg", the logo is much bigger and without ”Sto”, whatever that means? Anyway, I know that you only age pianos, but do you think
this is a piano that could be sold somewhere?
I really like it and I like that it is so well built and that it is so old, but I live in an appartment so I will not be able either to take care of it. My mom bought it to my sister, 20 years ago, who is now a music teacher and they have another piano now, which is a grand piano. Also, they live on an island!, which would make it hard to transport over there :)
Kind regards from Maria

As the piano is at the moment and painted in white, it will probably be worth nothing regrettably - or even in the minus figures. I have seen some wonderful art work on pianos, painted by hand, but this is usually personal to the owner until they sell it!
As a possible last resort, you could contact some local hotels/ bars/ restaurants - preferrably ones that may do weddings, fayres etc.... and they may take it off your hands, but of course to move a piano often costs more than the value of the whole piano. The attraction of having a white piano might seduce someone!!
Good luck

Hello! Thanks a lot for your answer.
It is understandable that as that the piano is re-painted for some reason,
the origin and handcraft-work gets lost a bit and the charm of having a old piano.
Not even the logo is visible :) My mom and I spent 15 minutes just trying to find info on it with a flash light until I gave up. Then she found it. It is visible but no very visible...
We heard now that maybe a music school might be interested in taking over the piano, we hope so, and if not we will ask a church. It is really well made and we wont throw it away. It´s a bit sad though it is expensive and a project to move pianos around, and also to have someone meeting the piano is not cheap.
No wonder people give them away.
Curiosa: When my mom bought it she paid 16 000 swedish crowns for it, like 20 years ago or so,and that is about 1933 euro.

We wish you luck with the sale of your piano.
Problem is - many pianos are past their 'sell by date' - and when we receive photos of pianos with all lids closed & shut - we know just as much as you.... "its a piano" !!.... oh sorry, "its a white piano"
The top front panel is completely removable - this can speak a thousand words to us - but many choose to just open the top lid, "guess whats inside" - then close the lid.
Things like wording/ decals/ mechanism design/ cast frame design etc etc can tell us more about a piano - to you, its alien.
Sometimes what I say is ...... "whatever you find inside, wording, lettering etc - send us a photo of it" - its no good just saying the wording here - we can tell what is genuine, and what is not - just like they do on Antiques Road Show.
