room damping

Is there a way of reducing the reflected noise a piano makes in a room?
Carpets or drapes on the walls or similar or are there noise damping products to use?
It is an upright Grotrian Steinweg 130.
The room was a garage so 18x10 converted into accommodation.
The piano is halfway along the long wall.
When I play it a lot of noise comes towards me which I would like to reduce.
I get the feleling the sound does not dissipate very well due to the wall surfaces.
The walls and ceiling are plasterboard and the floor is an oak floor laid on chipboard with insulation under that.

the are the acoustic wall panels that recoding studios use very effective but most are tad ugly for a home

We used this sort of stuff in my wifes recording both "Scan S-WDG45 Acoustic Foam Wedge Tiles". Very effective at killing sound going out and coming in but not something I would want on the living room wall

Try furnishings first: carpets, upholstered chairs, floor to ceiling bookshelves and curtains, etc.
