Venables & Co. Piano

Post by sara bowles »

I have an older style of upright piano marked C. Venables & Co. London N. with a traders mark of Maxwell & Sons. It must have had candelabra at one point in its life as you can see the filled holes where they would have been. It has lovely tone and plays very well, but I would love to know how old it is, is there any way of working this out by the way it is constructed or by the makers mark?

Which address is it? He was at Union Place until about 1862, then Essex Road. No dates of serial numbers are available, so any clues will be inside the piano. See

and the Reports page there. I'll see what I can find on Maxwell, do you have addresses?
