Knight York upright no.69864... ideas on value?
Post by Laurence070777 »
Hi,
I have a Knight York upright piano in crown cut mahogany. Its excellent condition and I have had it since new.
Its a beautiful sounding piano.
Serial number 69864.
I need to sell it and I need to know its actual value. I have a piano tuner offering me £1200 for it.
I have the original invoices and guarantee from Knight and the Bristol piano company.
Thanks,
Laurence

Nobody can value a piano without seeing it. Get three tuners/dealers to value it and take the average. You will need to pay a call out fee.
I play for my own amazement...

There's really no such thing as 'actual value' for pianos. Pianos have no absolute value. They are not like gold or other precious metals, which have a given price worldwide on a given day.I need to know its actual value
The value of a secondhand piano is only what someone is willing to pay for it. These days, it's less than it was years ago. And it varies with location.
All you can find out online, is what's a reasoanble ballpark figure for such a piano of such an age in such a condition in your area.
The three quotes suggestion is the right one.

dont forget guys.... many new members just use forums for a quick guide - price/ advice - they may not fully go through a valuation, and nor will they look back at this forum - sometimes just move onto another forum until they get an answer, or what they want to hear. If the new member here is happy with the offer - long gone!

VALUE
If I had ten Knight K10s in stock and was offered another = price £250 to buy
If I has no Kinight K10s in stock, someone wanted one, someone offered one for sale - price £850 to buy
Value is what the market commands. viz Adam Smith " Wealth of Nations."
