Advice needed re second hand piano

The tuning about £38.00 upwards for a standard tuning depending were you live as to the Hammer straitening that could mean anything from lose centres to just simple spacing

but if it's out of tune, I'd have thought it would be difficult for you to assess the quality of the piano (I know I'd find it very difficult) and whether or not there are other problems.
The usual advice on this website seems to be "get a tuner to check it out".. so since no-one has posted this advice yet, here it is!!
(P.S. I'm not an expert, just a person-buying-piano, so ignore anything I say which contracticts anyone else...)
