GORS & KALLMANN

Post by markj »

Recently bought a GORS and KALLMAN upright at auction for the kids to learn on. Its a nice piece of furniture, and does not sound too bad to my unmusical ear. Would just like to understand if it is worth spending some money on restoration or if I can let the kids have a free play on it. Any information on this would be appreciated not looking for valuation but just any history/model/type e.t.c I have NO experience/knowledge of Pianos

Details : Gors & Kellmann Upright(serial number 24506)

Pictures : http://www.ormark.demon.co.uk/index.htm

Thanks in advance Mark

Subject moved as this is not history

Gors & Kallma are a good make yours is an over strung over damper if the tuning pins are Ok and will tune up to pitch if the general tone is acceptable, then it is worth spending some money on the action to make it play better max £700 but not worth a full restring or re-polish anon the spot inspection is needed by a good tuner/tech to determine if the piano is sound

But this is history
The company was established in 1877
serial number 24506 Pre 1908
No published numbers before that date
