Dating a Camp and Company piano

Post by SusanC »

I am attempting to get a date range for a Camp and Company piano that my daughter inherited. It is an upright piano, with what we think is the serial number of 19774, but there is also a number 1977N.

The piano appears to be in beautiful shape, although the bench is missing. It does have issues with the higher register, perhaps needs pads and tuning, that will get done eventually. For now we are curious on the dates, wondering if this had been in the family for a while. It was in a house with three pianos, yet no one in that immediate family played, interesting.

We assume it has no real monetary value and are most interested in its age and history, as well as getting the one part of the keyboard in working order.

Thank you, in advance, for sharing your knowledge.

I can't give you a date for 19774, but have a look at

for general information about piano numbers. I suspect that if one is 1977N then the other one probably is as well, and not a serial number that helps.

Thank you, I actually read that yesterday. I will get down to my daughter's some time this week and will look for myself.
Tank you!
