Post by UKPiano1 »

Hello All,

On this video:

at :24 and :54, what are the names and composers of these pieces?

(The piano sounds beautiful, well worth listening to.)

Thanks,

Hi
The first is the start of Allegretto in D minor from Beethoven Sonata no17 op31 no2
and the second sounds like a bit of JS Bach. I will need to investigate!

I hope folks haven’t been waiting for my in-depth investigations! Given that there's been a zero response to the 0.54 query might I suggest that it's an improvised 'Bachianas' two part fugue in A minor.

The third piece in the video (00:54) is measures 1-13 from Bach, English Suite 2 in A minor. The pianist adds a cadence consisting of an E4-D4-E4 mordent in the right hand and the note C3 in left hand accompanying the second E.

Whoops I thought I'd flicked through all of Bach's suites: French, Russian, Chinese, Bulgarian etc and there at no.2 in die englischen Suiten is yards of A minor Bach! I've just now had an enjoyable play through it all thank you, with a bit of busking here and there, but must admit to only recognizing the second Bourree. I'm tempted to learn it properly but must not be diverted from my new years resolution [and every new year!] to crack on with more of his 'forty-eight'.

Thank you for that...for joy to the world at least that makes sense, but still why are the sessions so short?
