Knight K20 - advice on age

I have just purchased a Knight K20 upright for my daughter. The number inside reads 29565 and I think, from my own research and judging by the style of the case, that this may date the piano from the early 1960's. I'd be grateful if anyone could give me any further insight. Thank you.

That number suggests a date around 1962, but it should be dated, so have a look at

Thank you. There is no date as far as I can see - the bottom note has what appear to be initials - maybe a tuner?
On removing the bottom front panel I found two more numbers - 28784 on the rear wooden panel - the soundboard? And 10560 on part if the metal frame near the base.
Curiously, the front tapered legs that screw in do not reach the floor - clear by about half an inch. I would understand a small amount of tolerance for an uneven floor but this seems strange as they serve no purpose!

Perhaps someone has changed the castors?

any pics. Can't envisage the K20 with legs. There were some different designs I remember

If the castors are too big, they will also make it difficult to reach the pedals comfortably. More importantly, you must get them checked to see if they are safe for pianos.

I will post a pic tomorrow. I've searched the Internet but can't find another K20 with similar legs. I'm wondering if they've been replaced as these taper and have conical metal caps at the bottom, much like a 1960's table leg. I've seen a K20 with turned legs that attach to cross members and earlier examples with cabriole legs but these simply screw in and attach to nothing - they don't support the piano at all as there's a clear half inch gap to the floor.

Have you seen this 1959 one on google images? Also, search there for Knight piano without the model number.

Wow, no I didn't see that one! Well I'm relieved that ours probably has genuine legs. Phew.
