Alphonse Blondel upright piano
Post by blondelpiano »
hello everyone,
My name is Lukas and i 'm the proud owner of an old upright piano.
It's an Alphonse Blondel from 1931 build in a small factory in Paris.
The last service dates back to 26/01/2008 and the last tuning 1 year ago so
it sounds a bit like russ conway's piano did.
some disavantages are the ivory keys that have become very yellow and thin.
should i replace the for plastics or not ?
My question is: How good is this piano ?, How are the tuning pins ?(some of them are not pointing
upwards but rather right-angled ) And should it be tunable I've got it for free anyway

I'd say ask a tuner but maybe someone here can answer your question without looking at the piano.

The piano can be repaired. However, all depends on how deep your pocket are as it will be cheaper to buy new if you do a full rebuild.
The ivory looks like its had it, as to the tuning pins its hard to say without putting a lever on them and testing Have you spoke to your tuner what is their opinion if the tuner say its is worth it get 3 estimates on the cost make sure they itemise what they intend changing and what they are not changing and why
