Information on a Windover piano

Post by greybits »

My patner and I have 'inherited' a piano that has been in her family since her late grandfathers time. We just had it tuned, and the tuner explained about the serial number etc. We would appreciate some history of the piano if it's possible. The No is 41443. A Windover Piano. Over strung, under dampened. It has: The British Pianoforte Manufacturing Co Ltd stamped inside, and also it has: Manufactured for Paterson.Sons & Co Ltd.Glasgow in gold leaf just above the keyboard. Any ideas of age etc

Many thanks
Darren

If you google it, you will find an item on one of my pages about them. The number suggests that it was made in 1920, and the iron frame is probably dated below keyboard level. Hve a look at tyhese links...
