F C Aldis Piano
Hello, I have inherited an upright Piano but cannot find any reference to the Manufacturer on the web. I think the manufacturer is F C Aldis based in London W. Any information would be great. Many thanks

Unless our expert Bill has info on this name, it could just be a wholesalers name, or a fictitious name made up. I reckon its not a recognised manufacturers name. The design and general 'look' of the fallboard decal may tell us its a stencil piano.

The address London NW suggests a date between about 1860 and 1917, but in that period, I have found no reference to a piano maker or retailer named Aldis. This does not mean he didn't exist, he simply wasn't listed in directories or trade lists that I have seen so far, and it is most likely that he was a retailer who put his name onto pianos bought in from anonymous wholesalers. Any further clues will be hidden inside the piano.
Coud you upload some images of the piano here, or email them to me?
