George Rogers & Sons London, baby grand
Dear Sir
I have a George Rogers & Sons London, baby grand piano which I need to sell as I am moving house and downsizing considerably. I am at a complete loss as to what would be a reasonable price to let it go for.
I do not anticipate it will be worth very much. I inherited it twelve years ago from my late mother in law who paid, if i remember correctly, approximately £6000 for it. It is in very good condition, last tuned a year ago before my daughter lost interest in playing. I will be very sorry to see it go as it is a beautiful instrument.
The seriel number is 28629.
Kind regards, sue.

In Britain, as in America, we are simply not allowed to quote prices, this must be done by a licensed valuer. The only one I know of that deals with pianos is Piano Auctions Ltd.
The number suggests that it was made in 1918, but I have no way of knowing if that is correct. One thing that is vital with a piano of that age, is getting a tuner in to check that the piano will hold in tune, because if it won't, repairs will probably cost over a thousand pounds.
