If I quote a sentence from a magazine , is it against the copyright rules ? What can be discussed if you disagree with a sentence?

As long as you credit the magazine, citing date/edition, then preface your remarks by 'IMHO' or similar evasive unactionable words, I reckon you'd be fine. If not, I can bake a cake with a file in it for you!

Further point; I was told by my supervisor not to say on paper what you wouldn't say to the face of the person you're criticising!
