Carl Ecke - Berlin - Dresden Posen

Post by Nadia »

Good Day.

I have a Piano with "Logo" of Carleuke - Berlin - Dresden Posen on it. It is made of I believe walnut wood. I am not sure of the age of this piano - would anybody be able to help me? I'm sure that the Carleuke would be the makers - when where they making piano's? I need to sell this beautiful instrument, but need as much information as possible for this.

If you look at the other post about Ecke, I have given an explanation on how to find the serial number.

1. Remove ornaments from the top
2. Open the top lid right back on itself
3. Look behind front panel - at each end there will be a wooden block - turn this half a turn, then remove the front panel completely (this is the panel with the 3 windows & brass fittings).... move it towards you first, then lift it away.

Serial number should be inside

Ecke was fairly unusual in listing those 3 towns, so it probably is an Ecke. There should be numbers inside that would suggest a date, but nobody can tell you anything about the individual piano without photos.

Hi - Oops - Yes - it is a Carl Ecke - the piano is standing in my dad's house and the picture he sent me was pretty bad quality. I'll upload the photo's any how. And then it would be of tremendous help if you could let me know where to find the dates and serial numbers etc.

Thanks a million!!

See my edited post above - and refer to the other Ecke post for location of serial number or just click here (scroll to the last post):
http://www.piano-tuners.org/piano-forum ... f=2&t=9938.

There will usually only be one serial number - about 5 digits in length.
Take a photo of the serial number & download if possible.

My guess would be early twenties so you could be looking for a number around 25000, and you may find it just by lifting the top.
