If it was just called "The Lounge" it might attract more general chatter.
The presence of the word "Piano" always makes me think you are still supposed to be talking about pianos in here.

But yes, if it's just in here then maybe it's had it's day.
Maybe forums have had their day. Facebook has really sucked a lot of users away from forums and into facebook pages instead

Why not just change it to 'The Lounge'?

Would be like changing Windscale to Sellafield......if there's no interest there, we should just have the learning and teaching section.
Just because there aren't many posters in the Piano Lounge of late is no reason to delete it. We don't know what the future holds and any time in the next few weeks, months or even years, people may join the UK Piano Page and start posting in the Piano Lounge once again.

It's not 'broke' just not being used a great deal at present..............

I don't really use the Piano Lounge much, but if it was changed to just "Lounge" it would still be useful for people to post subjects which have either nothing to do with pianos or which don't fit in anywhere else without being OT.

Perhaps "The Lounge" may be alright but I think Barrie is right. There is a large measure of anonymity on a forum which Facebook and Twitter have annihilated, and have provided the chance to interact with people on a personal as opposed to a more aloof level.

Admittedly, one of the reasons I stopped posting here for a while was because of over-long, though rather active, threads, a couple in particular, which were exclusively in Welsh! I don't speak let alone write it so not sure if that was a stumbling block for some folks.

I think you're right, Barrie. The Piano Lounge preceeded the social networks that have sprung up and that may be a factor. We have had a sudden influx of activity and I am fairly confident that the Piano Lounge will bounce back with some tactical assistance...

It's a shame that Dave bailed out. Over the years on the forum, Dave has had a some moment where he has blown up over an issue only to calm down again later. :? I just hope he hasn't over-reacted only to regret his decision later!

Well, re threads of no interest, I just don't read 'em! And as Dave seems to have bogged off, there won't be anyone else for me to practise me Welsh on...:( :)
Idle Chitchat seems to be a good name - non threatening and casual sounding - I like it!

One reason this section is neglected may be the way the forum works as you log on. It needs a fair bit of jumping up and down with the top logo getting in the way. Then the headings are limited in the section where you start off. You have to know where the topic choices are located . It`s like a weighted dice that keeps coming up with a 2 every time you roll it. In a tower block the person living near the entrance meets more people and makes more friends . The one on the top floor where nobody passes ends up all sad and alone. Where`s my hankie.
