Need a new stool - any recoomendations?

Just ordered a new piano but now need a new stool so I don't have to stand up to play.

Ideally, I would like to have a black gloss wooden one (to match the piano), height adjustable, storage for my sheet music and to be a duet seat with a black vinyl/leather padded bit for my bum. Just a single seat duet version though, not one of those that splits into 2 separate bits.

I don't want to go to the expense of a Tozer i.e. over £600. I would like to spend a maximum of £200 all in.

Anybody know any good retailers that they could recommend or know of somebody who has this in stock just waiting for me to order it?

I've had a look on the net and they are about - I've seen prices from around £170 to £290 for vinyl top but would rather buy from recommendation than a 6Kb Jpeg on a website

You'll have to pay alot more than £200 for a buttoned leather adjustable duet stool. Also, you cant have both the adjustable & music box type- one or the other, because the rise & fall mechanism takes up all the space. Try a few piano shops - I think some do them in black velvet - and the seat covers are interchangeable. Have a look at F&N or Heckschers range of stools.

Its not something we tuners sell - but try a few shops & see what they have in stock.
Where you bought your piano .... in some cases for a quick sale, a stool is included - but just the basic.... retail about £90 - £120.... however if you upgrade to a concert duet stool - they sometimes knock off the difference - so have a word!

Pretty much anything thats not a John Ausitn or Tozer will be rubish. I have yet to see a bolt on leg stool last more than 2 years without falling apart. The are low price for a reason which is to bung in with a piano to make a sale. Save your money and buy a good one or you will regret it later. Ive got Tozers that are 10 years old and go out with hire pianos that still have solid legs and fully working mechanisms. The laquers a bit beaten up but the rest is fine.

I've had a Roland piano stool for 13 years and is still fine. That cost me about £50. It all depends how you look after things really. I've seen a duet stool in black gloss with black vinyl cushion, storage for music and height adjustable from 20" to 23". That costs £280 online. The kids are grown and gone so there's only me to use it and I'm a bit obsessive about looking after things!! A bit of OCD I think....

We use to sell a leather adjustable one with deep box on UK Piano Page they looked hideous, but folk like them. We do the F&N one but it has only a shallow box can be ordered in leather click on Piano Accessories Shop

As to bolt on leg stools put a dab of glue on the leg before you do the bolt up lasts for years
