George Russell London Date
Hello Mr. Kibby,
My mother and I recently purchased a George Russell London upright from a Salvation Army. We didn't know anything about the piano before we got it and have been trying to do a little research to find out more about it. It was just delivered today, and we have yet to have a tuner come by. I'm sure he/she may be able to give us some information, but I found your site and decided to inquire for your assistance as well in better acquainting me with our new piano.

It is not possible to tell you much just from the piano's name. George Russell was established in 1842, and the name was still used at least up to the 1930s, although by then, it was taken over by Cramer. It may be possible to estimate the date if there is a serial number inside. Can you upload photos of the whole piano?

The number suggests that it was made shortly before 1895. You may find the following link helpful...
