Brinsmead Upright piano number 65537 1911?

Post by Paul Timmerman »

Hi All,

Some years ago we bought this piano some years ago at auction, it was more like a piece of furniture.

We had it tuned a couple of times over the years, now my son is turning into a skilled pianist I was thinking about getting another piano but now I've done my research we recon its about 100 years old and would much rather have it restored.

Can anyone advise me of its estimated value, and which companies can restore it.

what is a reasonabl cost to restore this piano two keys have there tops missing and one of the peddles doesnt work as it has been blue tacked in place as it stoped notes working however the outside has no major dammage though you can see it has been used over its lifetime(but not all ways bad)

It also has Lindsay Heritage Ltd in gold leave on the right hand of the keyboard lid, does anyone know what this maens?

1911 seems about right for that number. Nobody can guess the value or condition without tuning it, because if it is untuneable, or going in that direction, this can be the most expensive of jobs to do, normally beyond the value of a 1911 Brinsmead.

Where in the world are you? We are not normally in a position to recommend restorers, but any piano workshop or technician should be able to do it. Lindsay Heritage is not a name I know, probably a retailer.

Hi All,

Bought a new piano over the weekend so I retract the post.
