Albert Finger Upright Piano

Post by marybeth mcteague »

I am curious to know about this piano maker. I live in Canada but purchased an up-right grand piano in London c. 1995 with the following on the lid of the keys Albert Finger Hof-Pianoforte-Fabrik, Eisenberg, i.Th and there is also a crest.
It has a remarkable sound. I think it probably dates to 1910-20 as it has what I would call Art Nouveau style or closer to the Jugendstil associated with Germany and Austria. There are typical Jugendstil motifs. Currently it is painted black by a previous owner.
I would like to know more about this and also about its relative value.
Thank you.

Sorry I can't help you on either score. Nobody can guess the value or condition without tuning it. As for Finger, all I know is he was established in 1887. Can you post photos here, or email them to me?
