Steinway event at Finchcocks

Post by Bill Kibby »

On Saturday 15th October 2011, there will be an event at Finchcocks Museum of Living Music, Kent, at which representatives of the Steinway company, New York, will talk about the evolution of the Steinway piano. I will add further details when these are available to me, but for more information, you can contact Finchcocks at

Thanks for the info. I went to one of their conventions back in 2004, and found it very interesting. This was at the Steinway workshops near Acton, London. Looked at a slide show of trees in Scandinavia, where they are hand-picked for production, had a chat with John Ross, then a regulating lecture by Ulrich (think thats his name), and transported in a mini bus to the main Steinway showroom on Marylebone Rd/Lane where we could choose from several Model D's to play!!!! Had free lunch, and a curry & few beers in the evening.... good day!

Don't think there is a stagecoach leaving Inverness in time to make it
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it

...and you need to watch out for highwaymen. I have just returned from the wet and windy wilds of Wales. I was unable to get an answer from Alastair, I will not be available on that date.
