Henry Zender piano

Post by peterenhjalmar »

Hi, We recently bought an antique Henry Zender & Co., London piano. The wood is a gorgeous orange-brown, with a lovely irratic pattern instead of woodgrain. It is inlayed with a light wood pattern consisting of lilies. It once had candlesticks attached to it but they have (unfortunately!) been removed. The only number we were able to find imprinted has only four digits: 3 7 0 2.
We would be very happy to find out the approximate age of our new antique instrument.

Yours, Hjalmar

By the 1950s, Zender pianos were by Sydney Zender, Henry's were earlier, but I will have to look them up to see when the change occurred. A 1923 Zender piano has a number in the 9,000 range, and is dated on the iron frame.
