Romance on the forum.........
Post by Colin Nicholson »
Nothing was planned at first, and Kari PM'd me first, and asked if I would consider looking at her piano!! So I braved the journey from Bradford to Liverpool, and ....oh dear! her piano was in a sorry state! Thankfully, it wasn't too bad, I have tidied the action up, replaced 2 broken hammer shanks.... and its looking good!!
Kari & I frequently visit each other.... (sorry guys, no photos yet!).... and we will remain as partners "very much in love"!!
I suppose that because of Kari's love of pianos/ music and history of music.... I chose to put this note on the history forum.. (hope you don't mind Bill!!). We also visited the Bronte museum in Haworth together, and heard the recently restored cabinet piano being played by a 'to-be' concert pianist (from the Royal Northern College).... a unique experience!.... so I guess, everyone knows now!
So there...... broke the news!!

The action needed the 'proverbial' refacing, tapes, both sets of leathers, cushion felts (blighters ate it!!), and some re-pinning. I will be attempting the main tuning next weekend! - pins seem OK .... the action is back in with just a few keys, and it plays well.
NO.... OMG!! no weddings.... no kids...... just us!! thanx for the offer tho!

I'm sure she will forgive me sooner or later!!
She's on her way back from Tescos now (in Liverpool).... and not sure whether to txt her, tell her on the chat line when she gets back...... or brave it! and let her find out for herself? !! mmmmmm
Thought this post was overdue now, and just spices things up a bit.... eh?

I take it that you didn't mind Colin posting the news then Kari ?
Seeing as you have had a great deal of help and input from a lot of people here .... advice and valuations etc ... I think you need to give a little back to us maybe a report and full assessment of your new pianolove ... none other than .....Colin !!!
I'm getting married in the .... Fall ... in a Grand Style .... To an Upright man ... who's got a lovely depth of touch .... as we Set Off together ..... I'll be keeping him in Check .... and won't let him put a Damper on things .... etc etc.
Re: Romance on the forum.........
Please no piano related allusions here.
With a settled relationship here we don't want to hear of any set offs or escapement ( heaven forbid, any let offs!),butt springs or deviant deep touch or lost motion.
all the best

Must say just one more thing to you two (Bi-chord!) .... it ain't that much fun being (Single) and may your time together be in perfect (unison). If either of you ever feel like throttling the other (Tri-chord).Colin Nicholson wrote:......ooh Johnkie!..... let it DROP !!

You've certainly grabbed all the headlines here today ..... and joking apart ... Sincerely, I wish you both lots of happiness.

PianoLove:- As I understand you found 'Piano' on freecycle, are you certain you didn't find a (presumably) well-used Colin on Ebay, and put in a bid for him? If so I trust he has a high rating and gives good service……….
Reading all these individual posts over the years, sometimes with regular posters one tends to wonder what they look like, and I for one tend to imagine and form a mental picture. And Kari, I probably deserve to get my derriere kicked here, but what with "pajama parties" etc, I genuinely imagined that you were a 'he'.
Colin: now that you're linked with PianoLove, it may be the perfect time to refresh your avatar - I have a few suggestions if you like…
I can now imagine you both visiting romantic-sounding places like Castel del Piano in Italy. And talking of romantic piano-related trips, one of these days you will both have to visit the absolutely superb piano museum in Limoux SW France. Here's a link http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthre ... Post200517 to a write up I made on the 'other' forum of my last trip.
Loving wine almost as much as pianos, I'd planned on a bottle of Haut Medoc - Cru Artisan this evening. I'll be sure to drink to your health. Cheers!

No, as I rarely visit UK these days. Museum looks well worth a visit though.PianoLove wrote:
