Jubille Minstrelle from Murdochs

Post by jrcpr13 »

Hello,

I have a piano and would like some help finding out some information on it such as its age and a possible estimate of its worth. Its a small piano with a cabinet door either side and what i can only think are candle holders on stands. Once revealing the keys, In gold writing on the left 'JUBILEE' is written and opposite on the write 'MINSTRELLE'. Underneath is what i believe to be the manufacturers.. 'murdoch, murdoch & co' with the address 155 & 157 corporation street, birmingham.

I cant find a serial number on the piano and i've looked all over it! Please help, Thanks

The name JUBILEE was applied to a number of pianos in the various royal jubilee years.

MINSTRELLE is only known to me as a model name for very small upright pianos by Barratt & Robinson, used in the twenties, and re-introduced in the sixties.

Murdochs were probably just the retailers. Photos might help us guess the date or origin.

Serial numbers are unlikely to help without knowing the real maker, but follow the link below for datemarks.

This appears to be an imitation of the 1930s minipiano, but I cannot tell you any more.
