Probably helps as a stool softener.........jordan2 wrote:Just curious to ask why most concert piano stools are bottoned?
Does it improve the comfortness?
I was playing the piano in a zoo, when the elephant burst into tears. I said, "Don't you recognize the tune?" He replied, "No, I recognize the ivories!"

I will come down the vernon level
It's for when you fart not as loud with those little hollows and the button deflect the sound
they keep the shape of the stool as you tend to do a lot of side movement when playing

It wasn't the person who started it, it was the rude boys who hi-jacked it...
I play for my own amazement...

I'm not being rude at all.
I'm making a perfectly rational and intellectual observation about how the motion of the gluteus maximus over a buttoned piano stool could stimulate a performer to greater efforts.
I bet there is a website about it somewhere.

From now onwards I'll take your advise - move about more on the stool with the intent to improve my overall piano performances.

If you're a parent with a growing child who loves to play piano, then an adjustable bench might be the right choice for you. piano bench, adjustable piano bench, piano stool, piano benches measurements
Adjustable benches are so much more comfortable than sitting on telephone books!
