I've put in a request on the moderators forum to leave everything alone. i can't do much else. What specifically are people's copmplaints please? They need to be articulated.

Basically, the changes are what the ABPT want, and what they want, they have. They are more interested in the technical/history/tuning side od the forum, so that's what gets to be. Sorry lads...I did try.

I'm sorry folks, but I'm struggling to understand what is going on?

I don't see that the forum or it's categories have changed recently and I'm on here a good few times a day.

The UK Piano Page was set up and is run by the ABPT not only for the benefit of its members but for the wider piano owning, playing, tuning public - it states that quite clearly on the home page (quick link on the left).

As far as I can see, there is only one small part of the whole Forum which is for the exclusive use of those in the piano trade - the rest is open to anyone to read or join as they see fit.

Can someone please explain to me what is the issue?

Im still here Brummers!! My laptop hasnt been connecting properly to the internet, but has been fixed by my dear brother and seems to be ok!
I dont quite get whats been going on/ everything ok Brums? You still learning the piano? Ive started grade 4 pieces but dont seem to be picking it up as easy as I did last time, but practice makes perfect!

The issue being that activity in the Piano Lounge has over the past six months or so died away to almost non-existent in terms of learners and teachers using the page. With this in mind, this page is transforming into a sole resource for piano tuners historians and technicians only, squeezing the teachers and learners over to the ABRSM forum, or other groups that may operate via F***b**k, and signalling the death knell for this forum, and possibly the Teaching Piano section also. Hence the title of this thread.

If that is the direction Barrie wishes to take this page, then, as Webmaster, I cannot argue with him, but I feel we should take the democratic temperature on this just to see exactly how many non-tuiners/technicians/historians there are that still haven't defected to the ABRSM website. Indeed it could well be that you are moderating to yourself here, Gill

OK - now I get the point you are making. However,neither Barrie nor the ABPT have any control over who posts in any part of the Forum - apart from discouraging and deleting spammers People come and go in forums - I'm a member of a couple of dog related ones and people join and post for a while, then for whatever reason, stop posting. This is the most I've contributed to this forum in a good while, but I still log on daily and read the new posts. It's just that I haven't had anything relevant to say of late - no sarky comments please

I'm sure that Barrie would like more people to post in all sections of the UK Piano Page.

I visited the ABRSM one when I started learning, just couldnt get into it and never posted a thing! Then I found this one, everyone seems so friendly on here, its sad that everyone is giving up after coming so far

Imagine this page is the Guardian and the ABRSM forum is the Sun, whilst the Sun might sell more copies it's full of crap

OMG to be pigeon holed as a Guardian person the old man will be twisting his flat cap in his grave.

Large forums tend to get a tad impersonal and can be intimidating if there a are lot of academics on there who are full of there own importance. Small forum by there nature seem to be more friendlily but can seem to be very clicky to new visitors .

Brummers, just get your posterior back on the stool, your fingers on the Ivories, forget about your issues and tinkle away! leave the exams for a bit, just pick up some easier grade 1/2 level pieces just to get your confidence back and gradually build it back up again!
