unknown history and value of my Ronisch Piano

Post by nabatat »

Hello. i have a Ronisch Upright Grand Piano and would like to know its value and history. It is in very good condition and has a beautiful tone. I have looked up websites that have indicated that I should use the serial number - however there is no seriel number that I can find. It is ornate and although it doesnt have the candlesticks in place you can see where they were. It has been in my family for 45 years and the lady that had it before had it since about 1910-1915 (she did not buy it new as far as I know).
the gold coloured inside back of the piano has RONISCH embossed on the top right hand corner.
Any assistance with my quest would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody can guess the value or condition of a piano without tuning it, so contact your local tuner.

The history of individual pianos can only be obtained from the makers, who still have their archive material.

There may be clues inside the piano, so have a look at my Datemarks page at

If you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) it may be marked with the action maker's name and number, and I may be able to date this.
