A poem about piano moving

Post by MarkGoodwinPianos »

It's a little bit GCSE standard (at best) but I wanted to write a poem to highlight the excellent work that piano movers do. The chaps that move mine every now and again are unbelievable. I could write about 20 paragraphs worth of admiration but instead here's a little poem.

Why would they choose such an awkward vocation
That can leave them stranded in an unknown location
They have aches and pains that are way beyond soothing
I'm talking of course about piano moving

Upstairs, downstairs or across a muddy lawn
And after hard day's graft they drive through 'til dawn
Cooped in their van through sunshine and rain
Knowing tomorrow they'll do it all over again!!

I'm not sure why I keep changing the font colour in my posts but there you go.
Piano movers are the unsung heroes of the trade... along with technicians of course

I wrote this about a particular company and I've just phoned them to ask if they mind if I mention who they are.
It's these chaps:
www.pianospeed.com

Jon is the friendliest piano mover on the planet. Not only that but he's the most hardest working piano mover too. The effort he puts into his trade is unbelievable. I always tell him to stop working so hard but he always ignores the advice.

So that's why I wrote the poem :)

On a slightly related note, mark, what is the cost of delivery for your pianos? To a first floor flat (15 staires I think). I promise to give the people moving it coffee and biscuits for the effort :D

Erm... hmmm.... I'm sorry but I don't think I'm allowed to post prices on here.
I'll send you a PM now with that info but feel free to reply back in here without mentioning the price. Forum etiquette you know ;)

Spammer now gone!

Rhyming couplets...eh?

Isn't that kind of too romantic for a couple of guys who deliver your pianos? :P

The language I've heard whilst watching piano movers - from a safe distance - is far from poetic...
I play for my own amazement... :piano;

I suppose it depends on how reputable and upmarket the piano showroom they work for is, Gill? Maybe Mark isn't as amicable as his passport photo suggests? :D

...or perhaps it's not a passport photo at all, but the one they used on Crimewatch...? JOKING, Mark, joking!

Ouch!! Lol ;)

The chaps from PianoSpeed are very polite and don't swear. You might find that hard to believe but it's true. Jon has the voice of a posh office worker with the physique of a body builder!

I've yet to see the smile get wiped off his face despite the many trials that piano movers encounter. He's always chirpy.

They are the poshest movers I've ever come across. Not that there is anything wrong with the rough & ready ones of course.

Oops!
Yes apparently many of my deliveries would fail if it weren't for the animal brute force and skill of Barry.

When a piano is too heavy to carry
Just pick up the phone and call Barry
He'll float it upstairs
With the strength of 10 bears
So if you're stuck, don't ask Jon, ask Barry

If everyone would write poems about people who they worked with, the world would be a better place! It's really funny, I enjoyed reading this :)
