Sames Piano

Post by JennyJane »

Hi Bill,

I'm located in Australia and have a Sames upright piano. Cabinet is walnut and is in reasonable condition as are the keys. I don't know any of its history but was wondering if you could tell me something about the history of the Sames piano. I can't find a serial number stamped anywhere visible.

Mine was (I think) distributed through W.H. Paling & Co Ltd in Brisbane.

I have photos but am unable to upload to the post.

Kind Regards

Jennifer

Sames was established in 1855, and is thought to have made his last piano in 1934. I have no detailed history.

The Ombersley Road factory can be seen on Google Earth, and you can move around it to different views.

You can email photos to me, and they may give some idea of date. Other clues will be hidden inside, so have a look at pianogen.org
