Struggling
Post by pia noidea »
Is anyone else new to piano finding it hard to play with both hands, and to read music on the bass and treble clef at the same time? Tell me its gets easier, i thought i made progress at first but now seem to be at a stand still. Or am i being too hasty
Re: Struggling
Hi there,
How long have you been playing?
It DOES get easier the more you practice - don't be too hard on yourself. There will be times where you feel like you're making no progress then all of a sudden something just "clicks" and you find yourself doing something you were struggling with. Hang in there. It WILL come.
Do you have a teacher?

Hi Pia noidea!
Keep practicing, it will get easier! I find it hard reading the 2 clefs at the same time. Just practice each hand seperately then play then together really slowly to start, take your time and keep practising!! Before you know it the 2 hands will just click together!

Hi pianolove, i also learnt to play ode to joy with both hands but using chords in the left hand, which i find a lot easier than playing separate notes in the left. I ve been playing for a few months now, i think i m being impatient, i ll stick at it cos i m passionate about piano. How are you on reading the music and playing at the same time ?

That's the key (no pun intended!) little and often, rather than going all guns blazing for an hour and getting frustrated. Several smaller sessions is better.

Hi pia noidea
Can't comment on whether it gets any easier, it's still bloomin' hard for me.Started learning one month ago and i've had 4 lessons,i started trying two hands together after 2 weeks and i can manage a few tunes(although i wouldn't call them that, they only last 20/30 seconds). My teacher hasn't introduced me to both hands together yet but i wanted to get a headstart as i figured that would be the hardest part.
i don't worry too much about reading the notes, i memorize them with each hand separately but they have a mind of their own, it's really maddening watching them disobey me i have evil fingers from hell.............. hopefully it will start to come together soon or trying to get the wife to allow me a grand piano in the bedroom will be difficult
good luck
