G Holt and Sons piano
Post by theclamps27 »
Hello there, I have just randomly aquired a piano and am struggling to find any info on it. The only details on the piano are inside which says G Holt and Sons. I have had no luck finding references to this on the web and was wondering if any of you know anything about it? I have attatched a phot if this will help.
Thanks, James.
Thanks, James.

George Holt was in Manchester by 1886, but the firm didn't become Holt & Son until shortly after 1911. I have no evidence that they made the pianos, they seem to have been dealers who, like so many, put their names onto pianos bought in from anonymous wholesalers. One that I used to tune only had a paper label inside, no name on the fall (keyboard lid).
There may be clues inside, so have a look at pianogen.org
This piano looks more like twenties or thirties.
