Sources on Perzina Serial Numbers
Dear Friends,
This is my first post so I hope won't be too redundant. I own a Perzina, built during the German period of production. The serial number is 26888. I wonder whether anyone would know what source is reliable to try and establish a possible date of production.

For a better understanding of the general subject of serial number dates, I would suggest reading my Numbers page at pianogen.org
Many of the published dates for different makers have been copied from Michel, but we know that some of his are wrong. I have no specific proof of Perzina dates. If you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) it may be marked with the action makers' name and number, and we may be able to date this.

Re: Sources on Perzina Serial Numbers
Hope that this is not against Bill Kibby activites, just the book was at hand: "J U Witter, Klavier-Lexikon". It says on page 346 to Perzina, Schwerin, that 1920 there was #26,000 and also # 26,600 was in 1920, and # 31.000 was in 1925. Little Interpolation for #26,888 would deliver an estimate of ca. 1920/1921?
Irritating is a second timeline to Perzina, starting again in 1990..
- first list of # ends with #36,600 in 1960,
- second list starts with #28,000 in 1990.. ... ... an overlap..?..
So any Perzina Customer with a serial no. inbetween 28,000 and 36,600 would additionally have to know by himself in which time period his piano once fell when being built..
Or am I wrong anywhere..?.. <shy>..
Please, do a donation to the piano history fund of Bill Kibby. (assistance: the book cost me 45 EURO, and it is printed black ink on red paper to prevent photocopying..)
Regards
Bernd A.B.

Thanks for the plug! I'm sorry I forgot to mention it, 26000 does suggest 1920, but this later information just highlights what I keep on saying - don't depend on serial numbers for dates. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong, and often a piano has several numbers hidden inside.
