Old Piano Parts Wanted

Post by bansealgair »

Hi there.

I am searching for any old piano parts (keys, strings, action) from which to build costumes for a new piece of choreography I am directing. I am based in Northern Ireland and have approached local repairers/tuners to no avail. I wonder if there might be any traders/repairers out there with spare parts they cannot use who might be willing to post a box of items for a small fee?

Many thanks!

There may be a small issue re sending piano wire. If you intend to use it on costumes, can be a safety aspect as when high tensile steel is cut, the ends are razor sharp, so would need taping up. "Old strings" - could send a few looped with some tuning pins attached, but not a full set due to time involved - but I could send instead some thin 11 gauge wire - new, but it comes in a 500g coil - would cost about £10 extra. I used it on an old spinet once & never use it. Whoever you choose, let either myself or Barrie know.

most techs have hundreds of bits. What are you after?
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it
