R W Hunton Piano Maker London

Have an upright piano, RW Hunton London - NEW IRON UPRIGHT GRAND TRICHORD...does anyone have a little bit of history, about this old piano maker, approximate age...the tuning pins are hand made. Thanks Paul

I'm not sure what you mean about the tuning pins, are they oblong ends? Hunton & Crocker appear in my 1880 lists, and by 1886, it was just Hunton. I'll see what else I can find, but...

Up to 1875, Hunton is not listed as a Pianoforte maker. By 1880, Hunton & Crocker were at 174 Carlton Road London NW. By 1886 Crocker had left. By 1892, Strickland & Co. had taken over their business address. This seems to place your piano around the 1880s. It would be interesting to see what it looks like.

Yes the pins are oblong- they have a straight area at the mid section and rounded ends. Cannot find any manufacturers plate with a serial#/date etc. Will forward pictures - where to?...have a super day...Paul
