W.Danemann

Post by andy2904 »

I have a W.Danemann & son iron-framed upright piano. The W.Danemann & son metal plaque is fixed to the underside of the lid. The piano is a full 52 inches. I think it is mahogany with 3 inlaid panels on the front. The centre panel has a carved, decorative design. Under the top lid there is another company's name: Muirhead & Turnbull, Glasgow & London. I can't find a serial number on the piano so any information about its age etc. would be great. I have pictures if anyone is interested.

After some serious looking, I have found the serial number. It is 9266. It was on the main frame of the piano underneath the lid. Any more info regarding it's age would be appreciated.

Muirhead & Turnbull will be the retailer, probably from when the piano was new. They were in business from about 1880 to 1923. I guess the piano might be early twenties, but without the number I can't tell. If you would like to email photos, including interior details, I will see if I can find any other clues. If you just open the top, you may be able to see a number. Have a look at pianogen.org
