Help needed/wanted/appreciated!

Post by maxheadroom »

Hi guys and girls. I am currently looking for a silent piano and would appreciate any info or views on a 'Becshstein' Euterpe EU-112 Vario and how it/they compare to a Kemble or Yamaha silent. I can only find a very limited amount of info and I think, or gather from what Ihave found that it is now known as a Hoffman? Looking to find out the usual stuff - build quality, tone, action etc etc and possible ball park figure of what one is worth, (about 5 years old). Circumstance dictate I have silent option on my purchase - sorry to all the purists out there!

Many Thanks

Roger

Price it as if it didnt have the system then if it goes pop it doesnt matter. Get a tech to check the real piano bits over as if its the ebay one it says no returns. The ebay one is beech which may be a bit of agro to sell in a few years time but I guess its quite a bit less than the new price now any way. Try it out, then try a Kemble or Yam never just buy from the pictures ( unless you can afford to loose the cash).

If this is the one on e-bay then the number would indicate that it was made by Samick in Indonesia. From the measurements they give this would be based on the Samick / Reid Sohn 112. I beleive that the Euterpe models did get a final prep in Germany but you should probably try the Samick or Reid Sohn versions which will be pretty much the same pianos.

If you find a 'pure' piano you like - you could probably get a silent system fitted - I was quoted £1K for this

Thanks for the replies people! Decided to give this one a miss as there is no practical way of trying before buying so going to try and source something a little more local to me. Any views on the Kawai silent models?
